About The Body Engineer

Jacinta is a compassionate and dedicated Remedial and Sports Massage Therapist. With an athletic background in triathlon and a strong foundation in software engineering, she brings a deep appreciation for the connection between physical, mental, and emotional well-being to her work at The Body Engineer.

Guided by the balance between analytical precision and the restorative power of touch, Jacinta’s treatments combine technical skill with a calm, grounding presence. This philosophy is reflected in The Body Engineer’s logo, a yin-yang within a cog, symbolising harmony between mind and body, and the integration of structure with flow and energy with relaxation.

As a high-performance triathlete, Ironman competitor, and electrical engineering academic at QUT, Jacinta understands the vital role recovery plays in achieving peak performance in sport and everyday life.

Her wellness journey began in 2020, when gym closures led her to swap a “couch-potato gamer” lifestyle for cycling and triathlon. This lifestyle shift led to her first triathlon in 2021 and sparked a commitment to resilience and growth, but it hasn’t been without challenges. Jacinta survived a near-death experience after a head-on collision with a car while descending on her bike, and that made her reconsider her life, the way she was living, and what she wanted to be remembered for. This moment of clarity led her to leave her corporate job and pursue a year of PhD studies in sports injury data science. She soon realised that her true passion lay in healing others and educating, which inspired her to shift fully into massage therapy.

Along the way, she has overcome serious injuries, including multiple fractured ribs, a fractured elbow (ORIF), ulnar neuropathy and hamstring tendinopathy, giving her first-hand insight into the power of recovery and the healing benefits of holistic physical therapy.

In her previous career as a software engineer, Jacinta encountered the pressures and mental stress that corporate life can impose, often leading to a sedentary lifestyle. This experience not only highlighted the detrimental effects of stress on physical well-being, fuelling her desire to guide others toward balance through relaxation and recovery.

Jacinta’s mission is to empower her clients on their personal wellness journeys, focusing not only on physical recovery but also mental and emotional. With a warm and friendly personality, she curates a welcoming environment where clients can feel truly at ease, whether they seek a deeply relaxing experience, or a more clinical approach. By genuinely listening to each client’s unique needs, Jacinta tailors her techniques to enhance recovery, relieve tension, and promote relaxation. Her expertise in sports and remedial massage allows her to create the perfect blend of techniques, to promote healing and improve the quality of life for clients of all ages and backgrounds.

Outside of her massage practice, Jacinta holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer and Software Systems (First Class Honours) from QUT and completed one year of PhD studies in Mathematical Sciences. She has also studied Anatomy, Physiology and Chemistry at the University of the Sunshine Coast to deepen her understanding of the human body. Jacinta is also qualified in Dry Needling and Advanced Rehabilitation and Sports techniques.

Additionally, she is actively studying for medical school entrace exams and seeks to expand her expertise in health and healing. When she’s not working or studying, Jacinta is likely training for her next triathlon or unwinding on the beach, maintaining balance between work and life.
